Against American Exceptionalism

December 17, 2010

Nationalism is a disease—the view that your country (actually, your government) is better than anyone else’s, and has the right to rule others through aggression, conquest, and occupation. Of course, it’s bad enough that we’re ruled by the vicious and authoritarian American government. We don’t want other peoples under its boot. If Americans are to return to sanity, first they must to realize that we are not Overmen, chosen by God to rule the Undermen. In this connection, Michael Kinsley’s article is useful. I should note that a spokesman for Politico told us not to link to Kinsley or their other stories, since they found the anarcho-capitalist, anti-political LRC so awful.
