Americans Desperately Struggle to Find European Countries on Map

An American website proposed its visitors to check their knowledge of geography and place European countries on the map of “the Old World”. There was one condition: no internet or any reference books.

Honestly, the results weren’t that bad. 100% of the respondents found France, Spain and Russia on the map. Meanwhile, one user couldn’t decide whether Russia and Ukraine are different countries or they’re one.

Eastern and Central Europe became the biggest challenges for users as virtually no one was able to find Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and other countries. Some even called it a place “Borat is from” or a “Csar Republic”! So, TV producers could be proud – people watch their shows.

Most of respondents couldn’t also distinguish Norway from Sweden and replied that it’s “something damn cold”.

But in the end, it’s pretty hard to call and place all 47 countries of Europe without practicing before that.

You could also try and check your knowledge by downloading and printing a contour map of Europe.

Or you can pass the test online in English or Russian.
