Sometimes Trump is bad with words. But he never invented a terrorist attack in Sweden. He simply referenced a documentary that aired on Fox about Sweden’s immigration problems the night before. Reading the headlines and posts in the aftermath of his speech is why no one outside the #nevertrump bubble takes the media or their Facebook mouthpieces seriously anymore.

I’ll reserve my outrage for if and when Trump makes a lie like: “Iraq has weapons of mass destruction,” or “If you like your doctor you can keep him,” or if he decides to blame a terrorist attack on a YouTube video. Until then, the flood of sensationalized reporting and petty smears will create a “crying wolf” scenario where Trump becomes immune to actual, warranted criticism. And that result is bad for everyone, except the person on the end of the outrage dilution—Trump.
