Progressivism in Action

“I’ve been robbed by the State.”

Writes Mike Holmes:

Zimbabwe, located in southern central Africa, has been in meltdown since late last year. Violent repression has killed at least a dozen protesters and hundreds have been shot or beaten by military and police. Internet service and social media websites have been blocked by the government.

Independent since 1980 and mineral rich, Zimbabwe’s economy is largely based on “progressive” economic ideas like high taxes and state control of businesses. It has been in severe decline for decades. According to Wikipedia the purchasing power of the average citizen there has dropped to the 1953 level due to record hyperinflation and government mismanagement.

Per Wikipedia Taxes and tariffs are high for private enterprises, while state enterprises are strongly subsidized. State regulation is costly to companies; starting or closing a business is slow and costly. Government spending was predicted to reach 67% of GDP in 2007.”

This is how Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green Socialism” program ends up in practice. Citizens silenced, starved and repressed at government gunpoint.
