One of the 15 Ivy League profs who penned the letter critical of “groupthink,” is Mary Ann Glendon (Harvard Law School prof). She was one of my classmates at the U. of Chicago Law School (we graduated in 1961). In GWBush’s administration, she served as U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican (o.k., The Holy See) , being both a Republican and a Catholic. A few years back, Mary Ann was to receive a very high award from Notre Dame University, but she turned it down. Apparently she was to receive this honor at the commencement address Obama was to give. She refused to accept the award because of Obama’s endorsement of abortion, and did not want to be part of the same ceremony at which he was to appear.  Good for her!!
