Is the Libertarian-ish Moment Over?

Along with the peace-ish moment? See Dave Weigel’s article. But that moment never existed in terms of  politics. Libertarianism is a movement of ideas, not an attempt to wield power over others, foreign and domestic. Politics can be used to spread the ideas of freedom, peace, and free markets, as Ron Paul has done so brilliantly. It has also been essential to Ron’s success that he is a very significant intellectual, as well as a lovable man who knows how to persuade and lead by example. I should note that there is one slightly libertarian-ish moment in GOP politics right now: the 3 non-politicians are the most interesting. Ron, despite long, untainted years in Congress, has always been the anti-politician. I wonder if 2016 would have been his year? The things people say they like about Trump–that he says what he thinks, that he cannot be bought, that he is authentic, that the Mitch McConnells and John Boehners hate his guts–are true in spades of Ron Paul.
