I will never live in California again

Writes Ryan McMaken:

That video of the surfer being arrested off the California coast is chilling, to say the least. The enthusiasm with which NY and Cali have embraced a police state should illustrate once and for all that the left only pays lip service to the notion of human rights.

The CA and NY “lockdowns” are also clearly qualitatively worse than elsewhere. In Colorado, for instance, I could go paddleboarding at a state park today if I wanted to. It’s just too cold at the moment. The primary evil of the local lockdown lies in how it destroys the businesses and livelihoods and small- and medium-sized business owners. But the parks are more crowded than ever here. Also, Churches are now “exempt” from the lockdown after some Baptists threatened a First Amendment lawsuit.  I am also told Florida’s “lockdown” is unenthusiastically enforced, megachurch pastors being arrested aside.  But in California it appears you are really expected to be essentially under house arrest. Every lockdown is a blatant violation of basic natural rights, the Bill of Rights, and due process, but some places are far more contemptuous of human rights than others, and it looks like the states controlled by the most committed leftists are by far the worst.
