Rand wins the vote for a caucus by 74% (though most KY central committee didn’t vote). But if he does not pay the agreed-on $250,000 by September 18th, the caucus will automatically revert to a primary. He has committed to paying all the costs, however, which seems somewhat open-ended for a bunch of free-spending local pols. It’s likely that secretary pf state Allison Grimes, who will be Rand’s general election opponent, will sue the KY GOP over the caucus. Defense lawyers will be expensive, too.
