What happened in 2020 was really no different than what the Republican establishment did to Barry in 1964. In ’64 it was done prior to the election with the Republicans for LBJ. The establishment did not want to lose control to the Goldwater wing. While Goldwater was not going to win, the establishment wanted to assure themselves the right’s hold on the party was broken. In ’20-’21 the establishment wanted to remove Trump. The Republican establishment was complicit in the defeat of Trump.

While I do NOT believe Trump was the answer to the maiden’s prayer he was probably the best available at the time. No one can be sure how it will all play out in 10 years. Perhaps Pence can be appointed someday as US ambassador to the Court of St. James.
