Re the Brookhiser tweet. Brookiser’s own Hamilton biography was obviously from a pro-  “energetic” government position.

I was reminded of a blog post of his on NR from the 2008 primary.

The last line: ” Ron Paul is a pencil head, leading a jacquerie of wicked idiots.” I remember at the time having to refresh my memory of “jacquerie.” (The nobles’ sneering terms for the peasants revolting (admittedly brutally) against taxes and conscription in 14th Century France.) No idea what a “pencil head” might be. But the tone seems to be that “wicked idiots” should know their place.
