Another problem solved

Writes Greg Privette:

Hi Lew,

Our Georgia governor was originally a little less totalitarian than many, but he is coming on strong now. Apparently, in order to help enforce his edicts he has “deputized” all county deputy sheriffs. As most LRC readers know sheriffs are a little different since they are elected officials and so are at least marginally more beholden to the local county electorate. This executive order puts them under direct control of the governor, essentially making them State Police or National Guard equivalent. My first thought is what impact does this have on the idea of local sheriffs declaring their counties 2nd Amendment sanctuaries? Pretty much solves that problem. No worries though, because we all know they will refuse to follow any unconstitutional orders, right? Well, except if it is an emergency. That is an emergency that can be declared by the same guy who then controls them.
