Your Taxes at Work

Once upon a time,  in another galaxy and a time far, far distant from our current preposterous one, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “…[T]o compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical.”

And in Michigan’s case, it’s also as horrifically wasteful as it is offensive. The state has squandered $5 million on an “advertising campaign to urge people to wear a mask to fight the coronavirus…” (You’re paying for this indoctrination even if you don’t live in the People’s United Democratic Republic of Whitmer–er, Michigan:  “federal virus relief aid” disgorged its funds. As James Nellis, who sent me the link, summarizes it, “$5 million more down the propaganda drain. They are not giving up.” ) Adding insult to injury, the brainwashing “focusses on appealing to those who believe the state’s requirement infringes on their rights.”

Don’t you love it when the media opines that someone “believes” a perfectly incontrovertible fact, as if there’s some dispute about it? “Donald Trump believes the sun will rise in the east tomorrow,” a talking head chortles, and we all hear the implication, “Boy, what a lunatic!”

At any rate, the indoctrination is “based on of [sic] survey of about 2,000 residents…” If these folks lean towards freedom and understand that the mandates assail liberty, why don’t they also realize how an overgrown military does? Because

Two [of the three ads] feature military members saying they wear a face covering to protect their freedom and the freedom of others,

That is so Orwellian it sets my head to spinning every time I read it—and I read it frequently because it’s become one of the Masked Morons’ mantras.

saying it can reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19 by 70%. A sergeant puts on a mask showing the American flag.”

No wonder I’m seeing stars and turning red with indignation, blue with anger, and white from shock.
