We approached the way one should, from the south over the plains of Beauce, the French breadbasket, with the twin towers visible over 20km away. The cathedral is somewhat isolated by fences, cut off from the ebb and flow of life in the city. It’s clearly the ‘property’ of the central government, which has taken poor care of it.
