You Lose Some, You Lose Some More

Jeff sent me two stories. The first concerns a judge in California who declined to issue a temporary restraining order against Chairman Gavin Stalin–sorry, Newsom in his war against the Church. Alas, it’ll take more than a mere TRO to curtail this despot’s evil.

Ditto for the judge. He “finds the state and county stay-at-home orders being challenged here [by believers that wish ‘to continue to hold in-person services’] bear a real and substantial relation to public health” and added that “even in times of health, the government must balance public safety and constitutional guarantees.”

What a reprehensible philosophy! Even more reprehensible is this imbecile’s deciding cases according to that opinion rather than the Constitution, as he swore to do.

Jeff sent another link, this one to a second case of the same ilk with what may seem a happier outcome: “A federal judge ruled Friday that all Kentucky churches will be allowed to hold in-person gatherings beginning this weekend…”

So far, so-so. How much better had he declared that the State cannot deny this inalienable right in the first place! But OK, Christian are “allowed” to resume corporate worship—“so long as congregations abide by social distancing and other health guidelines from the CDC.” Funny, I never noticed that condition in the First Amendment.

If Christians cede Leviathan the right to set these parameters on their worship, they cede the beast the authority to suspend worship entirely.

As we’ve learned these last two months.
