Trump just signed a bill into law that makes animal cruelty a federal crime: the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act (H.R.724). The bill, which I recently wrote about here, was passed in the House by voice vote, which means it had unanimous or near-unanimous support in the Democrat-controlled House. The bill passed in the Republican-controlled Senate without amendment by unanimous consent.
