As a resident of Florida I note that Andrew Gillum, the mayor of Tallahasse, Florida, won the Democratic primary election in an upset last night. Yawn. If elected in November, he would be Florida’s first black governor. Yawn. But to become governor, he must first defeat Representative Ron DeSantis, the Republican nominee for governor, who won his primary. Yawn.

I did not vote in the primary. Nor will I vote in the general election. Will it really make any difference whether Gillum or DeSantis becomes Florida’s next governor? After studying and writing about Republicans for many years, it is clear that it won’t matter one way or the other.

Now, if the candidates would just take down all of their stupid signs.
