Why the Absurdity?

Absurdity has comic value, but typically we avoid it. It’s absurd to step on the gas pedal when we want to stop the car. It’s absurd to accuse Trump of being a stooge of Putin. Russiagate was entirely absurd. It was way too far-fetched. It’s absurd for Pelosi and Schiff to impeach Trump when there is zero basis for doing so. The absurd statements being made by Hollywood celebrities like Reiner, De Niro, Fonda, Midler and Cher are incredible too. The stream of absurd headlines of the major American media are likewise absurd.

Why all this absurdity? The purpose is clear: Destroy Trump and his agenda. The purpose is no mystery. The fact that absurd charges and absurd processes are being used as the means of achieving this purpose is the thing that begs for explanation. It must be that the perpetrators of the absurdity expect that it will work to their advantage. For that to be true, they must believe that people are gullible. They must believe that there are not counterbalancing influences that either stop the absurdity or make its spread a losing proposition.

What is there to turn the tables upon the perps of absurdity and punish them for their lies? Lawsuits against their slander and libel are one concrete means. Their breaking of laws is another, if it results in discovery, fines, losses of jobs, loss of pensions, and prison sentences. Loss of votes, loss of elective office, and loss of power are punishment for some, but that’s all iffy. Loss of reputation, marginalization and ostracism are possible punishments; but they are not strong sanctions in today’s world. Perps write books and get hired as news consultants by other perps.

The lack of strong and swift sanctions against the perps of really damaging absurdity explains why it has been so prevalent in the last few years. The blackguards’ crimes have paid so far.

Why are there not strong and swift sanctions? It’s because of the ways in which the CIA, FBI, media and various other government staffs operate and are allowed to operate. The control over their behavior, to keep it proper and within bounds, is too weak. The War on Terror, a terrible idea and a terrible development, enriched and emboldened these agencies even more than had been the case before.

However, none of this would have happened had it not been for the man at the top: Barack Obama. He brought about these kinds of nasty and unsanctioned attacks.
