Why Isn’t It ‘Morning Pat’?

‘Morning Joe,’ the Joe Scarborough show that replaced Imus on MSNBC (boo!), is OK. But today, in the absence of Joe, we got an idea of what great morning TV can be. Mika Brzezinski is wonderful. Mike Barnacle plays the stock Irishman, liberal Demoratic division. But Pat Buchanan is a star. He steals any scene he’s in, not only because he is so charming, but because he is so smart. I thought his interviews this morning made for some of the most riveting tv I have ever seen. Pat is bad on economics, but his writings on war and peace are brilliant, as is his new book. How many entertaining intellectuals are there on tv? Because he offends the state moral code, I guess he will never be the host. But if MSNBC were making its decisions on a strictly business basis, it would be ‘Morning Pat’ tomorrow.
