Who Cares?

And what business is it of America if the president of Venezuela wants to “annex two thirds of neighboring Guyana’s territory and almost one third of its population.” The dispute over territory is not our dispute. Just like the dispute over territory between India and Pakistan and the dispute over territory between Russia and Ukraine is not our dispute. We may not like the aggression, war, violence, and injustice that may or may not take place in these disputes but they are none of America’s business from a military and foreign policy perspective. The foreign policy principles of Jefferson are still the best: neutrality, commerce, friendship, nonintervention, peace.
