W.E.B. DuBois Would Not Vote in This Election

That is the title of a must-read article. What I like even better is that it appeared on the Gospel Coalition website.

Here is DuBois: “In 1956, I shall not go to the polls. I have not registered. I believe that democracy has so far disappeared in the United States that no ‘two evils’ exist. There is but one evil party with two names, and it will be elected despite all I can do or say.”

And here is the author of the article: “A vote for the “lesser evil” is still a vote for evil. I can’t make that vote. I know there are no perfect candidates, but I do know there are perfect principles. And neither party or candidate stands for them.”

N.B.: I am well aware of DuBois’s communist connections, but that doesn’t change the truth of what he said and its relation to today.
