Subject: Healthcare
Professor, I was arguing with some Liberals the other day that increasing subsidies to the poor for health insurance would only continue to drive prices higher. I suggest that the lower income be provided with vouchers that they could use to either receive Medicaid, fully paid for, or to use toward the purchase of private insurance. I argued that competition is the driving factor of lower prices. Please enlighten me. Hope all is well. By the way, I’m thrilled that The Donald is president-elect. RM
Dear RM: See below for a bibliography criticizing vouchers, and another one doing so for socialized medicine. Unhappily, I have nothing on the overlap of the two. Hopefully, you can deduce from both separate topics the answer to your question.
Dear Everyone Else: Again, I ask for additions to these lists of mine.
