Violating the Constitution: So What?

When John Cianflone “contacted the United States Department of Education with questions about the federal role in education,” he received a response in which the bureaucracy acknowledged that “nothing specific is said about education in the Constitution; therefore it falls outside federal authority.”

The letter continues for another two pages, justifying intrusion into an area that the writer has already admitted “falls outside federal authority.” (Mr. Cianflone kindly forwarded me this twaddle; it’s a pdf, which I’m happy to send to anyone who requests it so you can behold with your own eyes this startling admission.)

Ah, the bureaucratic insouciance to shredding the Constitution!
