According to a report by US Naval Institute News, “The Navy is set to name a ship after the gay rights icon and San Francisco politician Harvey Milk.” Look also for other ships to be named after women’s right activist Lucy Stone and abolitionist and women’s rights activist Sojourner Truth.

I suppose that in the distant future, I may live long enough to see the Navy name a ship after the first openly transgender person to join the Navy after the ban against doing so was lifted. (It was recently lifted.)
