Twain’s Prayer

In response to the bloody U.S. invasion of the Philippines in the early 1900s, Mark Twain wrote the following “prayer,” which I am sure would be welcomed in many so-called evangelical churches today: “O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle – be Thou near them!
