Trumpism Infects Capitol Hill!

“There have been 680 robberies in D.C. so far this year, a 28 percent increase compared with the same period last year,” reports local radio station WTOP.

How not to get robbed?

Don’t get lost, don’t use your cellphone (but hey, won’t it help if you’re lost?), and stay away from dark alleys, says D.C. Police Lt. Ed Aragona.

Curious. He doesn’t say to stay away from crime-ridden neighborhoods – nor will he tell us where they are (in fact, cabbies are fined by the District if they **do** refuse to go to them).

Maybe Lt. Aragona doesn’t want to get in trouble – because a new high-crime area is Capitol Hill itself. And residents complain that the only way to avoid getting robbed is to stay at home, because when criminals are caught, they benefit from the District’s “Catch and Release” policy (sound familiar?).

Of course most folks on Capitol Hill are dependably leftish, so cognitive dissonance abounds. “Sadly, most Capitol Hill residents are looking a swift and cursory cure for their anxieties,” one progressive site laments (like “Catch and Imprison,” perhaps?).

Not quite: “before we are able to adequately address complex social issues,” the true believer continues, “we must, as best as we can, take into account the various historical, social, psychological, and economic factors influencing them.” (No, I am not making this up).

Most crimes take place near public housing projects, he continues, but such observations are”harsh, frenzied,” and – OK, you were waiting for this right? – reminiscent of Donald Trump’s “blatant racism and xenophobia.”

Stay tuned – this could start a trend.
