Update: I have been told that the president and the vice president must be from two different states, but this is not true.
Update: I have also been told that Trump’s wife was not born in the USA and therefore could not be the VP because she is not a natural born citizen. The place of her birth I did not know, but now I do.
This brings up an interesting point. The president must be a natural born citizen. The Speaker of the House and the Department heads in the line of succession to the presidency do not have this requirement. And it is not even clear that the Constitution requires the vice president to be a natural born citizen. What happens if the president gets assassinated and someone who is not a natural born citizen is supposed to assume the office?
