Bush’s Ft. Bragg speech was badly delivered, and full of lies. Nothing new there. But the soldiers in the drafted audience looked unhappy and sometimes angry. They “interrupted him with applause,” as they say. only once, and then, some substantial number sat on their hands. Wolf Blitzer quickly explained that the White House must have asked for a “sober, non-demonstrative audience.” Sure it did, Wolf. I wondered: is the military itself, as in Vietnam, starting to withhold consent? If so, it’s all over for the Lame Duck.
