Indeed, Manuel, it seems that the latest “Lend, Already!” order from the White House is a reaction to Paul Krugman’s twice-weekly rant this past Monday. You see, Krugman accused the White House of being too “free market” because it was not doing like the Brits and forcing banks to lend money.

This creates an interesting situation for the “more regulation” crowd. After all, they have declared that banks were not being careful enough. Now we hear (from the same people, of course) that banks are being too stingy and careful. Nothing like a little bit of consistency from the Krugman crowd.
