The War on Drugs Is a Failure

In Afghanistan. Even though the U.S. government took $7.6 billion from American taxpayers and spent it to fight the drug war in Afghanistan, the country’s opium poppy cultivation set a new record this year. Total cultivation rose 7 percent. “More than 550,000 acres of Afghan land were cultivated — that’s approaching the total land area of Rhode Island.”

The war on drugs is not only a failure, it is a war on freedom.
