Just to summarize the American record in Iraq: hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children killed; public buildings damaged and looted; some 3,800 U.S. soldiers killed and untold thousands more severely wounded; billions of dollars missing and presumed “informally redistributed”; a society in shambles; untold numbers of people subjected to torture; and now, charges that a young American woman was gang-raped, falsely imprisoned, and threatened with reprisals by corporate functionaries should she report the offenses.
