According to Fareed Zakaria, writing in the February 14, 2005 issue of Newsweek: “President Bush has often said that he emulates Abraham Lincoln.” How modest of Dubya to compare himself to Abe. One problem, though: Abe invaded eleven sovereign states, sacrificing some 300,000 U.S. soldiers in the process. Dubya has a long way to go to “emulate” that record. But then again he did promise to catch up in his inaugural speech, didn’t he?
