I asked where was the U.S. when Mao was in power. An astute reader profoundly replied: “Well, killing people in Vietnam of course!” I am amazed at the number of people who still defend the Vietnam War. I suppose, if they are still alive, that they will be the ones defending the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya forty years from now.
