The state of the race (or, the major parties

The GOP will nominate their weakest candidate since Wendell Willkie. He’s a dead man walking.

The Democrats could nominate a candidate, Hillary, who would be a lock to beat McCain. Instead, they appear to be about to nominate a complete unknown, far-left law professor and product of the Chicago Democratic machine.

As I have explained before, the race is a statistical dead heat. You can spin the numbers any way you want. However, the media has already coronated Obama. They report as a fact that which is not a fact: that Obama has clinched the nomination. No, the nomination will be decided by the super-delegates and there is no compelling legal, moral, political, or practical reason why they must vote for Obama. Nor have they stated that they will vote for Obama. Even if they did say that before the convention, their word would not be legally binding. We have already seen super-delegates change their minds and they may change their minds again if we learn more about the Picture of Dorian LBJ.

By the way, the last revelation came from his own lips on Saturday: he apparently believes the federal government should, to save the planet and at the behest of other countries, regulate the daily diet of Americans! LewRockwell.com broke the story about this truly insane remark about two minutes after he said it. I pushed the story hard over the weekend and, after Drudge picked it up, it became big news on the web. However, it has been almost completely ignored by the MSM. They still have the power and they decided to foist this unknown World Firster on us. Another bizarre remark he made that was ignored by the MSM was when he warned Americans that the world is watching their votes. Ooooohhhhhhh, I’m scared Barack.

Anyway, if it’s McCain/Obama, we will have the weakest set of presidential nominees in 100 years, a great chance for the most viable third party, the Libertarians.

They are meeting this week to nominate a candidate. I am not close to the scene there but it appears that Bob Barr may have the inside track but some libertarians are concerned about how libertarian he is. It’s been years since I was active in the LP and won’t pretend to know what is going on there now.

Will the LP decline the gift presented by the major parties this year?

Where am I going with this, you ask? There is only one logical solution to all this.

The LP should nominate Ron Paul for President and he should accept.

I understand perfectly why Ron decided not go third party but enough facts have changed since then that he should rethink that decision. Just by way of example: The economy has tanked just as he predicted. No clear LP nominee has emerged. Obama has imploded. There’s lots of buyer’s remorse about McCain. Finally, it’s clear to me after just a few months of trying to keep the Revolution together in New York, as I wrote before, the only man who can keep this unlikely coalition going is Ron Paul!

There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.
