Writes a friend: As you know, I am a former Army officer who now works as a college instructor on a military installation. The active duty officers in my office all received 50% pay today, one week before their normal paycheck.  You would think that people getting paid a week early would be happy, but it feels like a riot is about to start.  If anyone is wondering, the next revolution will look more like the French than the American.
