The Public School-Military Pipeline

It turns out that 931 public schools required nearly 50,000 students to take the military ASVAB test, often without parental knowledge or consent. “The ASVAB is the military’s entrance exam that is given to fresh recruits to determine their aptitude for various military occupations. Since 1968 the test has also been used as a recruiting tool in high schools.” The only good news I read in this story is that 10% fewer students took the test during the 2012-2013 school year than the previous school year.
