In his speech last night, Giuliani praised the Republican Party as the party of freedom. It is the party of Lincoln, Reagan, and Bush, he claimed. Although the Republican Party is certainly the party of those three men, it is certainly is not the party of freedom. It is the party of Lincoln (war, violation of the Constitution, supression of civil liberties), Reagan (increased government spending, high deficits, militarism, tax increases), and Bush (war, violation of the Constitution, supression of civil liberties). Most of all it is the party of talking about liberty, freedom, smaller government, and free markets, but then doing just the opposite.
