Anthony makes some good points re our nation’s preoccupation with prisons. One gets a glimpse of this in MSNBC’s regular prime-time programming centered on prison life. But the rest of the business system must accept much of the responsibility for America now leading the world in prison populations. For one, the private building of prisons – on spec – has been premised on the assumption that the state will purchase whatever prison facilities are offered to it by private contractors.
