The health care law is one year old today. Some states have sued over the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, arguing that the law’s requirement that people buy health insurance violates the Constitution. Now, I believe in federalism, states rights, nullification, the 10th Amendment, and anything the states can do to shrink the power of the federal government. But in just about every state, auto insurance is required by state law. Why isn’t that considered unconstitutional?
