One reason the economy continues to struggle is the costs imposed on business by Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. This law,rushed through a Congress eager to appear “tough on corporate crime” in the wake of the Enron and Worldcom “scandals”, makes CEOs criminally liable for inadvertent errors in a company’s financial statements. Fortunately, Ron Paul (who else?) has introduced legislation to repeal this monstrosity.
