My in-laws sent this great Ron Paul story they heard last night working the polls in Southeastern Connecticut:
7:30 am on February 6, 2008 Email Casey KhanWhile we were standing outside of the polls with our Ron Paul signs in Stonington, CT, our neighbor, former Congressman Rob Simmons came over to chat. He told us a sweet story about Ron Paul:
Rob was scheduled to meet a troop of Cub Scouts from CT on the Capitol lawn, under a particular tree. As he approached the spot, he noticed a crowd gathered, and Dr. Paul on his knees on the ground. He realized that Dr. Paul was treating the injured scout master, who had been hurt by a falling tree limb. An ambulance was summoned, and the man spent 10 days in an area hospital. Rob reports that Dr. Paul called the hospital every day to check on the man, and told us that the incident made him appreciate that Dr. Paul was a man who could really “do something”. Left unsaid, but inferred, was “unlike the other useless politicians”.
Unfortunately, however, it won’t lead to an endorsement- he’s a vocal backer of John McCain. However, Ron Paul did get 10% of the vote in our precinct in CT, even though he only got 4% overall in CT. CT is a tough place to live if you believe in freedom and liberty.
