It is nice to see the Dept. of Transportation wanting to “investigate” the airlines to see if they were underprepared for holiday travel. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta no doubt is such a brilliant strategist that if he were in charge, all of the airlines would be in great shape. Wait a minute! In a very real sense, he IS in charge! However, I suspect that Mineta is not going to investigate government-owned airports, the government’s FAA, nor government highway administrations to see why traffic in the Midwest was snarled over Christmas weekend.
