A San Francisco Chronicle news story informs us that the cost of the Iraq/Afghanistan war may exceed $700 billion. I believe it was in 1962 that John F. Kennedy submitted a proposed budget of $99.9 billion because he didn’t want to be the first president to have a $100 billion budget.
