The Evil ‘Waiting Room’

One of the (many) things I dislike about the current US semi-state medical system is the doctor’s “waiting room.” You are typically treated like a welfare recipient and kept waiting for an hour or more. The reason is that you are not the employer of the physician. You are merely a bothersome hurdle to getting payment. BC/BS or the feds (if you are over 64) is the actual employer. Compare the dentist’s office, where you are almost never kept waiting. The reason is that you are the source of payment, and therefore the employer.
