Writes a friend: Anyone who is still under the illusion that the left is strong on civil liberties should take a look at the comments section under Glenn Greenwald’s excellent piece about Canada’s hate speech laws. Glenn’s left-wing readers want free speech for themselves, but nobody should be able to say anything that upsets them.
