The Dangers and Morality of Online Gambling

Both the Southern Baptist Convention Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the National Association of Evangelicals are speaking out in opposition to a Senate bill to legalize online poker. “No amount of regulation or taxation could make such legalization a winning proposition for America,” Richard Land of the SBC wrote to Senator Kyl. “Pastors regularly see the destructive impact of gambling on families and children,” NAE President Leith Anderson said in a statement.

But such a bill would be a winning proposition for liberty and a free society. And it is the job of pastors to teach people about the dangers and morality of gambling, not the state. I actually just had published an article this week on gambling. And here is another recent one.
