The Bionic Mosquito and a Monetary Crank

The Bionic Mosquito, whom I have on this site had frequent reason to praise, has put us again his debt with a long  post mainly devoted to Kevin Carson, a well-known left libertarian. As the Mosquito shows, Carson derives many of his economic ideas from Benjamin Tucker, a great individualist anarchist of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Tucker’s political insights were unfortunately unmatched by knowledge of economics, and he was in his monetary views no more than a crank.  Rothbard took his measure long ago, but Carson is not convinced and perpetrates the same fallacies. Many left libertarians look to him as a veritable oracle in economic theory and history, an attitude that does them little credit.
