The Airline Grinches

Bangladesh-born New Yorker Aktarer Zaman, 22, is being sued by United Airlines and Orbitz for his giving tips for travelers on his blog, Skiplagged.com. One of his main tips is for travelers to buy the airline ticket that includes one’s actual destination as a layover and just not continuing to its final destination. To punish this blogger for legally providing that information that apparently many people have already known about and been making good use of, the airline is suing him for $75,000 in “lost revenue” because of his “unfair competition”!

“Unfair competition”? To these anti-business airlines clowns who really do take their customers for a ride, ANY competition is “unfair.” And what “lost revenue” are they talking about? Do they have specific readers of Zaman’s blog who have testified that they spent X dollars on cheaper tickets based on seeing his blog and thus their actual savings have totaled $75,000? I doubt that. This is really just another example of highly profiting big businesses stifling information coming from informal (non-Establishment-approved) sources such as blogs, as well as stealing from consumers their access to information which is beneficial to them toward legally saving money. (Talk about a bunch of Grinches!)
