May 11-17 was National Police Week. Many conservatives took this opportunity to say that people should support their local police. But can we oppose the defund the police movement and at the same time oppose such a blanket statement as “support your local police”? Of course we can. Never forget that it was local police who were the ones enforcing face mask and social distancing requirements. And never forget that it is local police, right now, as you read this, who are wasting taxpayer resources fighting the war on freedom known as the war on drugs.
