Six Reasons Why We Should Welcome Commutations of Federal Sentences

Commutations of federal prison sentences have been extremely rare since the administration of Lyndon Johnson. The Pardon Power blog says people are saying that it is possible that hundreds could be granted before President Obama leaves office. More certain and more important are the six reasons given why we should be neither shocked nor annoyed. I say that given the wretched nature of the federal judicial system, it is certainly thousands who should have their sentences commuted.
