On the car radio this morning I heard the chairman of the “Senate Intelligence Committee” sanctimoniously announce that the purpose of the committee (paraphrasing) is “to certify for the American people that everything that all of our intelligence agencies do is legal and proper.” Like the NSA’s eavesdropping on every single phone call and email of every person in America, for instance.   Or massively leaking classified, top-secret documents (a felony) in order to smear any and all politicians who question the wisdom of perpetual global war instigated by “our intelligence agencies.”
